"I first picked up a Brownie camera at the age of eight. I knew then what I wanted to photograph, and I still do." Thomas’ vision is such that he sees the mystery that may be hidden within a subject. His seeing or reading of the subject can reveal some of its essence - even in so called inanimate subjects. A photograph of a Buddhist stupa or that of a rock may both reveal an essence of spirit that is unique to each. It is Thomas’ purpose to share his vision of the mystery that we call spirit as it is revealed to him. Some images readily reveal themselves, and others may require that they be studied for years. It is not his intent to follow the rules of how photographs must look. Each image should be accepted as being an expression. He feels that labels are not necessary, and that each image should be judged each on its own. The prints of his Ladakh Meditation show are examples of the quality of prints that he has always sought to create. It is not his intent to follow the rules of how photographs must look. Each image should be accepted as being an expression. He feels that labels are not necessary, and that each image should be judged each on its own. |
